WHAT: Peaceful Demonstrations against bird stores WHEN: Saturday, March 21, 2009 - 2:00 to 5:00 pm WHERE: (note - two demos) 2 - 3:30 pm: Public right of way in front of Bird Paradise, 551 E Rt. 130 S, Burlington, NJ 08016.
4 - 5 pm: Public sidewalk in front of Todd Marcus Birds Exotic, 1060 South Chester Ave, Route 130 South, Delran NJ 08075.
Our campaign continues! Join us for our TWELFTH demonstration against Bird Paradise, and our SECOND demonstration against Todd Marcus Birds Exotic! *** Every year thousands of birds are sold by two of the largest bird stores in the nation: Bird Paradise and Todd Marcus Birds Exotic. Pet store birds are deprived of their natural environment and often imprisoned in cages. Even the most well intentioned person cannot provide for the needs of any bird. Bird Paradise brags about having thousands of birds for sale. On their own Web site, they claim they are the "World's Largest Bird Store". Let's tell them that profiting from the exploitation of birds is not something to be proud of - and let's let Todd Marcus Birds Exotic know that they too are part of the problem, not part of the solution. *** We love your kids, both human and non-human, but please leave them at home. We demonstrate on the public right-of-way which is adjacent to Route 130, a busy highway. It's safe, but not recommended for the little ones. Thanks for your cooperation!

This is definitely a good cause but isn't hypocritical that most people that will attend the demonstration are bird owners that have caged birds. We are the very ones that keep these folks in business. Wouldn't it be better if we worked with organizations in Central or South America that work towards releasing these birds into their natural habitat. I'm an owner of a scarlet macaw and I've spend lots of money in purchasing my bird, huge cage and lots of toys. Although my bird brings me joy and is part of my family, I really hate to see him caged. This animal was meant to fly free and not to be as one of my trophies. I'm interested in knowing how many people are willing to give up their birds and have them released? I bet you wouldn't because you spent too much money. |

I am not anywhere in your area, or I would attend. I'm in Palm Beach Gardens, FL., where I'm very active in Dachshund Rescue. I abhor puppy mills and the places you are demonstrating against sound like "puppy mills" but for birds. I pray you can stop it. We try, but they shut one down and two more open. In addition we have terrible "backyard breeders." I have 5 doxies, 3 are rescues and I'm fostering one that just had two major surgeries. When are you assholes going to knock it off? You all have pet birds, but want to protest bird stores. If you really cared about birds, and it is my belief you do not, your just typical "animal rights" people, your time would be better spent educating yourselves first then the public to proper bird care. I am horrified at the stupid posts for information on this web ring.
My bird is this, my bird is that. IF YOUR BIRD IS SICK, GO TO A QUALIFIED AVIAN VET, DONT ASK FOR MEDICAL ADVICE FROM A GROUP THAT CLEARLY KNOWS VERY LITTLE ABOUT BIRDS.
If your protests are a success, and I truely hope you are run over by cars while protesting, what will happen to the birds in those stores. Like all animal rights assholes, you are working towards the deaths of those birds. if the stores go out of business, what do you intend to do to keep, feed, cage and toy those birds. Bet you didnt think of that while your trying to tell the world how to live. Everything that peta, hsus and assholes like you do is get animals killed. Get off your soap box and do something that actually will help a bird for a change. |

Hi,
I really feel bad by heart when I saw birds in cages. They are born free, to soar in the sky and people should see them in their natural habitat if they wish to do so. ZOO's are also not their home , again we humans have created ZOO's for our sake , we shoul visit their natural habitat if we want to see them.
I want to change this law and eliminate all ZOO's from the earth.
Thanks,
Martin

It saddens me to see the ignorance, but this is the NYBC afterall. For those of you who are planning on sending your birds back to the wild, they will not survive. Preditors which they are not taught to avoid will take them within 10 days, and if not it will be a slow death to disease and parasites they are not prepared to deal with. You all talk about flying around and being free, but truth is only 1 in 100 will survive to breeding age. Wild flocks will not accept captive raised birds. Field studies have shown that birds from different areas speak different languages, but dont let facts get in the way of your actions. Parrots, captive raised sent back to the wild regardless of what the site mentioned in the first post says, will die a slow, painful, lonely death. If that is what you want for your bird, then so be it, but there is a special place in hell for you. As far as closing down zoos, zoos are the last chance to avoid extinction for over 5000 species world wide. you animal rights people really need to focus your time on learning yourselves, how to care for birds, and then teach others. My birds are the greatest joy in my life, and I have no intention of giving them up for anyone or anything. You cannot compare the stores you harass with puppy mills. It is a shame the came constitution that protects your right to be assholes doesnt protect business owners from your stupidity. Do some homework and learn how to take care of your birds properly if your looking to make their lives better. And if your so upset about your birds being in cages, let them out and stop whining. My birds are all free flighted and go outside and have a very nice life here. I'm sure this is all a waste of time as it is so much easier to be stupid than responsible. Aloha |

Mark,
Thanks for the entertainment. You're as classic as a Honeymooners episode. Don't ever change. |

Thanks! I have no interest in chsnging. I have read Johnathan Livingston Seagull, and I have seen Planet Earth. Nature is not all it is cracked up to be. A captive life is not ideal, but beats the hell out of the perils of nature. It is nice to see a bunch of people who think being in "nature" is just flying around without a care. Life in nature is a battle where most of the animals lose. It is a cruel world out there. Research is showing that birds learn their survival skills from parents in the first 3 months of life. Since captive birds do not receive their training, they will never be equiped to fairly compete in a natural setting. Birds in captivity need to be cared for. Wild birds need to stay wild. You cant throw both in the same catagory. If you do, you do a great dis-service to the birds. If this group is really that interested in the welfare of birds and not their own selfish adgenda, they would be better to change their direction.
If this group is so against zoos, then you need to get off the "animal rights" bent, and focus on conservation. As wild areas disappear so do the animals unless they are taken into captivity to save the species. Saving wild places, will keep the wild animals wild.
As far as the Honeymooners goes, I prefer to be compared to a "classis" comedy, than behave like "Bevis and Buthead". |

Yes, Todd Marcus has been in business 25 years without a single episode of any "outbreaks" or allegations of "outbreaks", pays a vet to visit weekly PROACTIVELY, tests for different "rule ins" and "rule outs" and checking "NORMAL" bacterias, gets medical treatment immediately even if a bird seems "off"......
AND GIVES A SIX MONTH HEALTH GUARANTEE.
.....but this idiot claims HIS STORE is "a sick store"? Ridiculous to think anyone would believe it. Especially with the juvenile devil coloring photo, idiot.
There are lies on the Exposed website and here whereby the malicious poster LIES about the vet records because we believe it's Kathy Hahn from Bird Paradise. Especially since she allegedly posted here promising to deliver said "records" against her competition.
The records were obtained during a civil law suit discovery and she is only putting HER twisted slant of what they say which is NOT really what they say and not the entire picture of each example. Of course Bird Paradise never came up with THEIR records and now wants to dismiss the action now that they HAVE TO and pay for experts and depositions. Kathie Hahn where are YOUR vet records that were subpoena'd back to 2004? Or does Jack medically treat his own birds? Why arent there any records of vet drawing bloods on your zillions of tests you tell customers their birds got?
She is lying and/or omitting what the vet handwriting actually says and/or SUBSEQUENT PAGES AND BACK SIDES of the vet records that give the ACTUAL DX.
IE the Polyoma bird's record says clearly on the next page POLYOMA NEG.

None of those records say what you claim, you are a liar for example twisting when a vet does a "test" for polyoma to be a diagnosis of polyoma. There are no PBFD illnesses or dx, no polyoma illnesses or dx, no PDD illness or dx....HEY speaking of PDD....that reminds me of more of your slander.
Hey Kathie did you even read the discovery with the whole PILE about your slander?
Like THIS post (among others) accusing Todd Marcus of having 5% of his stock having PDD and euthanizing a bunch of birds. "I despise the man" was your quote.
Where are THOSE PDD and euthaniasia records in the 850 pages of the past 10 years. Or is this what you accused the vet of "covering up"?
There's not a SINGLE PDD DX in the bunch. If so. lets see it. Wanna keep going? I have all your internet slander here and will be glad to scan and post it.
PATHETIC LIAR

They all seem to have issues I guess. It seems to me you don't have to lie and exaggerate what vet records say to make a point IF you have a VALID point. Obviously there's a reason for the lying about what the records say.
Jack Lance was charged with Criminal Mischief for actions against Todd Marcus (lol HE pled it down, too, apparently, just like his wife did after assaulting the demonstrator ).
Kathy Hahn has been harrassing and challenging and arguing with people for years especially on the internet. Even using her real screen name Calvins Mom. Planter of slander stories.
Hey Kathie Hahn tell Rowanm how you slandered your nemisis by accusing him of PDD birds (yet again)....and the customer you were gossiping and bs'ing about had to follow you around and tell everyone you were full of crap, that the bird ate some wax paper and was fine. And how you accused him of selling her a prior PDD bird when in HER WORDS there was once again NO PDD but the bird had a CONGENITAL liver issue.
When I get a chance I'll post all Kathy Hahn's slanderous internet postings but it'll take awhile. There are plenty of them. The previous one was just an example.
MEANWHILE....
Take a look at this. It's Blue Ribbon Pet Farm, Redlands Florida. Click on "Welcome to Blue Ribbon Pet Farm" in the lower right. It's under the link with the woman bragging about the incubators.
I believe this is "the" Bird Paradise Bird Mill. Peter Marolf. In business 45 years. Some of those birds have been sitting in empty cages all that time without a single thing to do but breed.
(link has been removed due to advertising breeders).
