Yes it seems there are alot of documents flying around NJ about bird stores.
This one just flew in about a letter from NJ Fish and Wildlife citing a Beak and Feather issue/investigation in BIRD PARADISE just last summer June 14, 2007.
The quality is not so great but it's legible. Anyone can get their own copies from the NJ Dept of Environmental Protection Division of Fish and Wildlife Freedom of Information officer.

They will probably say there was nothing found there. Customers complain or vets complain then they notify stores. That's how it works. I heard the state doesn't do any testing they just make you show your OWN testing.

Well there seems to be plenty of Freedom of Information Act in NJ about this accusation against Todd Marcus, too.
Here's part. The complete file can be obtained by Freedom Of Information Act through Fish and Wildlife , Dept of DEP.
Look who seems to have started the investigation...an ANONYMOUS (requesting confidentiality) former employee and Jack Lance. And look who ends up fighting with the Fish And Wildlife Officer even AFTER Mr Marcus paid his fine..."Kathie macawlady57" who seems to be representing Jack Lance and Bird Paradise according to the email trail.
It began : July and August 2004 - Around the time of the NOTICE OF QUARANTINE deal at Bird Paradise.
Was brought "to the attention" again to Fish and Wildlife in 2006 when they seemed to have not responded to the first complaint in 2004 by a redacted named person who volunteers for Parrot 911 (?) and Jack Lance's ATTORNEY.
And ended: Feb 2007 (at least where Fish and Wildlife was concerned it seems)
Wow that's alot of work for 8 IRNs.

Hot off the plane...Delta perhaps...bulk buying of helpless small birds not even larger parrots.
Wanna discuss Animals Etc Inc, allegedly owned by Jack Lance? In 2003 just before opening the Bird Paradise retail store, Freedom of Information Act documents show thousands and thousands of small birds alone...on just these few documents (I got tired of scanning...)...approx 8000 parakeets alone. Shipping all the time sometimes 400 and 800 to a shipment. Boxes and boxes being flown in...sold for between 3.25 and 4.00 apiece. Not including finches, lovebirds etc.
Notice the DOAs on the last receipt. Dead on Arrival. 91 birds dead on arrival. How do you keep disease free with about 15,000 small birds alone going through your place? The most parakeets I ever saw at Birds Exotic was about 10.

This one doesn't even count up the birds down the bottom just a bulk purchase?
UGH, "defectives" being bought too...wonder what a bird store does with birds with birth defects? Maybe they're used as "EDUCATION"?

Wow whoever called this thread "disease warning" mighta had esp. Here's more bird records on Bird Paradise baby bird band number JED3598 African Grey who died. Born 10/12/06?
The lab report says negative for poly, PBFD and Psittacosis on 11/2006. There was a necropsy dated 3-6-2007 with Animals Etc as the customer.
There's a note at the bottom that says 3/12/07 s/w Jack probable B&F.
Wow. I guess the other vet at Redbank knew what they were talking about when they said testing doesn't mean your bird is disease free.

I think it is about time that all information be posted relating to necropsy reports, sick birds, birds that arrived DOA, birds with PDD, and birds that died in the care, custody and control of Todd Marcus Birds Exotic, along with Health Department Reports for Todd Marcus Birds Exotic. Mark my words - ALL will be posted tomorrow. I also find it very amusing that you hide behind the guise of an internet name yet you post Todd Marcus Birds Exotic invoices. The only person who would be in possession of such documents would be Todd Marcus and/or Todd Marcus Birds Exotic.
I further find it amusing that you would post documents from 2003 when bird Paradise did not open until 2004.
Be prepared to view a plethora of documents which are quite heartbreaking regarding the illnesses of the birds at Todd Marcus Birds Exotic.
I have remained silent on this issue up until now. I am done watching you people play these games. The truth will be known.

I am just catching up on this post. I will be interested to view the documents you say you have relating to Todd Marcus Birds Exotic. Do you really have documents on his birds and are you really going to post them or is this just a game? |

I have a ton of records relating to Todd Marcus Birds Exotic - birds positive for PBFD (Psittacine Beak and Feather Disease), numerous Necropsies for dead birds (even an Aracari if I recall correctly - some type of toucan - I don't have the records in front of me), PDD, bird after bird that is sick, a bird that was stepped on, birds "found dead in AM", birds vomiting and lethargic and birds on numerous medicines for infections with which I am not even familiar, massive e-coli infections, along with unsanitary condition reports from the Health Department.
THE TRUTH WILL BE KNOWN ONCE AND FOR ALL.
And as for the allegations by RowanM that *I* had the PFBD lab reports that were initially posted regarding Todd Marcus taken down (first post in this thread), that is a total untruth. Todd Marcus and his attorney had them taken down. As for who posted them, I do not know. However, rest assured that *I* will post the records in my possession relating to Todd Marcus Birds Exotic on Friday morning post haste.
You people are totally out of control. Now it is my turn.

That is very sad that so many birds are/were sick there. I agree with you tho. Let the truth be known. Maybe he got away with it for so long because he was the only store in the area, but not anymore. I hope I don't cry when I see them. It doesn't sound very pleasant. |

By the way, Kathie, you should get your facts straight "post haste" before posting accusations.
Below is actually what I wrote about you - I never suggested I knew who requested that the posts be taken down. I *guessed* it was you or someone affiliated with Bird Paradise, since it is my understanding your lawyer Deb Plaia had already requested them to be taken down. A logical guess, most would agree.
I would imagine that the person who originally posted them requested that they be removed. My guess is that person is either a co-owner of Bird Paradise (Kathie Hahn, probably, since she seems to live half her life on the internet posting negative stuff about the competition or stalking people who are exercising their constitutional rights and harassing them by calling their employers...it seems like something she'd do) or someone affiliated with Bird Paradise in some way.
Whoever it was, was possibly advised by a lawyer (Deb Plaia?) that since they are private documents, and Bird Paradise and Todd Marcus are involved in a lawsuit, it wasn't too smart to post them here.
Have you checked out the public documents about Bird Paradise at http://www.BoycottBirdParadise.com ? We do our homework before posting anything ...
