WHAT: Peaceful Demonstration against Bird Paradise WHEN: Saturday, July 26, 2008 from 2:30 pm - 4:30 pm WHERE: Public right of way in front of Bird Paradise, 551 E Rt. 130 S, Burlington, NJ 08016
Our campaign continues! Join us for our fourth demonstration against Bird Paradise! Every year thousands of birds are sold by one of the largest bird stores in the nation: Bird Paradise. Pet store birds are deprived of their natural environment and often imprisoned in cages. Even the most well intentioned person cannot provide for the needs of any bird. Bird Paradise brags about having thousands of birds for sale. On their own Web site, they claim they are the "World's Largest Bird Store". Let's tell them that profiting from the exploitation of birds is not something to be proud of. |

Reply with quote | #2 | Hi this is Evelyn Frances. I'm just dropping you a line to let you know that I have heard about that horrible bird shop in NJ previously on myspace.com, and it seems that different groups and people have boycotted them but so far to no avail. The picture of the injured and bloody parrot is terrible. It really breaks my heart. I have always been against pet shops because it kind of reminds me of slavery; in other words the buying and selling of beings. Maybe I have an unusual way of thinking -- I don't know.
I can't attend the boycott but I will include the pet shop in my prayers since praying is energy and sometimes moves people places and things. Thank you for the work that you do (all of you) and for being who you are.

The saddest thing about the videos on the link above is that as bad as this place is, it is better than so many others such as the Scudder operation. However, until the laws are changed, this type of horror will continue. And even if we were able to stop breeders immediately, there are thousands of birds still needing long-term homes. |

The protests are new and recent. Just wait. Dedicated animal rights activists have only peeled back the FIRST layer of the onion. Protests will escalate and so will information that is released to the public. Give it time.....
High gas prices Foreclosures Banks closing Presidential election....wall street hates uncertainty
Small stores are closing. Large stores are suffering. Freaking PetSmart can't even manage to keep psittacosis out of it's stock since last year, I guarantee you they are feeling it.
The days of pet stores are numbered thanks to our economy. Pray for short term financial problems, you'll survive. Animals will suffer more for now, but in the end the entire industry of animals for entertainment will be seriously affected. I hope. And yes, Evelyn, thank you ...it's slavery. Thank you for your enlightened point of view and please do not sponsor any enterprise that uses animals in any way for entertainment or other purposes.
Do not interfere with animals' right of way is an easy motto to live by.
