A 2002 literature review of elective abortion rates found that 91–93% of pregnancies with a diagnosis of Down syndrome were terminated.[25]

The above link and quote are from the wikipedia article on "Down Syndrome."  I had been looking for the reference for that statistic for a long time.

My opinion:  If parents can afford to support a disabled child without robbing taxpayers, that's their business.  If they cannot afford to support a disabled child, they should abort.  I do not want to support their disabled children with my tax money.

thank G-d didn't give you one to raise..they call these children the gifts of God I don't believe in telling someone what to do but in your case You really need to identify with a parent of a handicapped child before you can say what  you did...most people with these children don't rely on tax payers monies...just fyi...the majority are self sufficient and have insurance...you are very cold and callous and hopefully you will not reproduce, I am not anti abortion but people like you  don't need to preach, it is a hard enough decision for someone to amke with  your comments..

This is an animal rights site so I don't get the corrolation but I'm commenting because this is a good example of how people read something and misunderstand it or take it at face value when it doesnt even make sense.

A tip..that sentence does not make any sense from a scientific data research perspective. And.if you had to look for that statistic for "a long time" that means the originating data is suspect. Hard data  is easily available. And the sentence "A 2002 literature review...???"  WTF? That's so riduclous. WHAT literature and how was it "reviewed"?

If it was a study of elective abortion rates..... then the universe is only the people who got abortions. So where did the data come from for ALL PREGNANCIES with dx of Downs. In order to determine 91%. The sentence is messed up or you wrote it wrong.

Are they saying that every single OB GYN in the USA filled out a survey with hard data of how many Downs babies were dx and aborted? I doubt it. They don't even fill out their insurance claims promptly and accurately let alone something like this.

If you think about it logically, I highly doubt  that all abortionists go and test the babies anyway so there is no rational explanation for that sentence.

Don't believe a simple so called truth especially when they are hard to find. That was probably a source of some group with an agenda. I am not interested in abortion as a cause so that's not the reason for my post.

People like you anjee make me sick, like really just kill the baby because they can't afford it.. what if you were the baby? oh and did you know that the baby feels everything?.. but honestly it's ok because no one cares about what you think.. maybe someday you'll understand that they are either as or more important as you.
